The Jesus Papers Da Vinci Code - The Quagmire Of Absolute Ignorance

When the Hand of God bestows upon man Divine Wisdom in the form of Knowledge or Revelation, and man ignores or rejects that God has given unto him, then the Left Hand of Correction begins to move against man, in order to force him to see the error of his ways. In 1947 the Church was given the Dead Sea Scrolls -- as well as the Nag Hammadi Library and other important discoveries that was needed to bring about a true spiritual renewal and re-birth. At first the Dead Sea Scrolls was on Palestinian land and under the control of the Christian Church -- and what was revealed in the Scrolls was for the most part kept from the flock of believers. Then came the 1967 six day war that shifted the Scrolls to Jewish Israeli control. And while much more of the content of the scrolls was revealed, the Church continued to turn it's back on the implications of the Essene, Ebionite Christian connection. Such groups as the Jehovah's Witnesses even deceived their followers, and told them that they were the most like the Essene/Ebionite followers and disciples of Yeshua and TheWay. And as the Church continued to ignore the implications of the Scrolls, the violence in the Mid East continued to rage -- and this violence is the result of the backlash of the rejected Wisdom and Knowledge which was given unto man from On High. At present we can observe this Corrective Action of the Laws working in another way -- i.e., to counter the fallacy and corrupted manmade doctrines of the Church, a series of books which contain fragments of misunderstood truths, were raised up in opposition to the equally fictional doctrines of the Church. And while the Church has for half a century ignored the Truth and the Facts, we find many Christians offended and outraged as the fictitious accounts of books such as the Da Vinci Codes and The Jesus Papers. So in judging these works of fiction based upon partial truths, the Church is in fact judging its own manmade fictional doctrines based upon partial truths. And as Christians speak out against what the very Hand of God has raised up -- in condemnation of what God has brought forth -- what we have is the quagmire of ignorance.

The profound long-suspected truth about Christianity became an indisputable fact when Dead Sea Scroll expert and biblical scholar A. Powell Davies expressed the immortal words when he said: “Biblical scholars were not disturbed by what they found in the Dead Sea Scrolls because they had known all along that the origin of Christianity was not what was commonly supposed to have been” (quoted by Millar Burrows in More Light on the Dead Sea Scrolls). Worse yet, Edmund Wilson, an expert who worked on the Dead Sea Scrolls further raised the question as to what difference it makes if “Jesus... had been trained in the discipline and imbued with the thought of a certain Jewish sect, and that he had learned from it the role that he afterwards lived...” (The Scrolls From The Dead Sea). To the uninformed and unknowing believer, it made all the difference in the world! And when Prof. John Allegro was quoted as saying that what has been revealed in the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls is a great amount of overwhelming evidence that “...may upset a great many basic teachings of the Christian Church. This in turn would greatly upset many Christian Theologians and believers. The heart of the matter is, in fact, the source and originality of Christian doctrine” (August 1966 issue of Harpers Magazine); what he was in fact stating is that, everything that we now know about Christian beginnings demonstrate that the Essene/Ebionites were not the heretics, as they were falsely portrayed by the later Gentile church, but were in fact the body of genuine believers that held fast to the authentic teachings of Yeshua/Jesus and the New Covenant.

In one of the latest assaults upon the Church with the sword of historical facts (The Jesus Papers : Exposing the Greatest Cover-Up in History), author Michael Baigent poses the question: "What if everything you think you know about Jesus is wrong?" And the basis of his book is in the description: "As a religious historian and a leading expert in the field of arcane knowledge, Baigent has unequaled access to hidden archives, secret societies, Masonic records, and the private collections of antiquities traders and their moneyed clients." But perhaps even more revealing is presented in one of the author's previous books entitled The Dead Sea Scroll Deception, where a Publishers Review states of the book: "For the lay reader, this crystalline, well-documented work offers substantive evidence that for more than 40 years a small coterie of Catholic scholars established a stranglehold on access to the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in the Qumran caves east of Jerusalem in 1947. Baigent and Leigh ( Holy Blood, Holy Grail ) claim that the elite group had direct links to official Vatican propaganda offices, that at least two among them were outspoken anti-Semites, and that they suppressed material that connects early Christianity to the Qumran community as well as to the zealous defenders of the fortress of Masada. Drawing on the findings of independent Dead Sea Scrolls scholar Robert Eisenman of California State University, the authors advance startling theories that should change the way we view ancient Judaism and nascent Christianity. They argue that the Essenes, Zealots and Nazorenes or early Christians in first-century Palestine weren't different Jewish sects but were, rather, various sobriquets for members of a broad messianic nationalistic movement dedicated to upholding the Law of Moses and determined to violently overthrow the Roman occupiers. The authors also amass evidence that the Habakkuk Commentary and other Dead Sea Scrolls refer to the same events as those recounted in Acts, in Josephus and in the works of early Christian historians; that Paul was sent forth by the hierarchy in Jerusalem for the express purpose of recruiting an army, and by preaching a new religion, he was depoliticizing and emasculating the militant movement; and that Paul might have been a Roman agent or informer. Baigent and Leigh demonstrate the perfidies of clandestine, cliquish scholarship that isn't accountable to the public and make urgent the forthwith publication and translation of all Scrolls material."

As demonstrated on the main Ebionite web site ( http://Ebionite.com ), the present-day doctrines of the Church have very little in common with the original teachings of Yeshua and TheWay. Why? Because they are primarily the concepts of Mithraicism with Jesus installed as the latest incarnation of the pagan sun-god of Constantine (see The Christian Judas). And the facts are beginning to envelop the Church because it falsely believed it could simply ignore one of the first voices of reason -- that of Dead Sea Scroll expert John Allegro, who was at that time a Professor at Manchester University -- who worked extensively on the scrolls, where he was quoted in the August 1966 issue of Harpers Magazine as stating: “The very scholars who should be most capable of working on the documents and interpreting them have displayed a not altogether surprising, but nonetheless curious, reluctance to go to the heart of their matter. The scholars appear to have held back from making discoveries which, there is evidence to believe, may upset a great many basic teachings of the Christian Church. This in turn would greatly upset many Christian Theologians and believers. The heart of the matter is, in fact, the source and originality of Christian doctrine”.

As the Church predicatively attempted to ignore the facts, many other scholars and historians have begun to sound the warning of fraud -- as seen in the review of the book, The Dead Sea Scroll Deception, by the Library Journal: "This emotional account of the events surrounding the discovery and translation of the scrolls attempts to uncover the theological and political efforts by individuals, governments, and religious institutions to keep controversial documents unpublished, ostensibly to preserve orthodox intepretations. The English authors, Baigent and Leigh, base their study on the work of Robert Eisenmen and other religious scholars who maintain that a conspiracy of consensus led to stagnant reinterpretation of old doctrine, rather than true research which would contest preconceived notions with newly discovered evidence. New theories by Eisenmen and others, which challenge the roots of Christianity as well as New Testament doctrine and history, are discussed. Standard works such as John M. Allegro's The Dead Sea Scrolls & the Christian Myth ( LJ 6/1/84), Roland De Vaux's Discoveries in the Judean Desert (Oxford Univ. Pr., 1977), and Geza Vermes's The Dead Sea Scrolls in English (Viking, 1988. rev. ed.), and many others are preferable to this acrid introductory "expose."-- Paula I. Nielson, Loyola Marymount Univ. With respect to your article which I have copied below, while much of what you say is correct, many of your foundational concepts are as misguided as those you condemn. And while you may reject what I am saying, the Truth is easily demonstrated.

A True Visionary of God is able to not only receive the revelation via the spirit, but is able to observe the consequences of man's actions when he ignores what the Lord has brought forth. Many say that Jesus predicted the fall of the Jerusalem Temple because of the unbelief of the people -- and in much the same way, the present struggles which the Christian Church finds itself immersed, has been brought about for the very same reason -- i.e., their refusal to listen to the still small voice, and act upon what the very Hand of God places in their hands. The result is that while the Christian world looks out at the condition of our society with condemnation and judgment, it is their own shortcomings which they perceive. While it is true that much of the Da Vinci Code is fiction, because the Church has ignored the Truth when it was given unto them by the very Hand of God, it is the same Hand of God that is presently raising up the Da Vinci Code fiction in order to bring notice to the massive Church-doctrine fiction that since the fourth century has desecrated the Name of the Lord. By Law, when a people ignore Truth, then the Hand of God raises up evil to counter the original evil. So the Da Vinci Code is a fiction that the Lord has brought forth in opposition to the equal fiction promoted by the Church.

It was not an accident that the Dead Sea Scrolls and other important writings were found -- i.e., it was the Hand of God that brought them forth as a witness against the Paganism of Rome. They were given into the hands of people such as yourself, so that you might bring about the desired spiritual renewal of the Church. But God was mocked by the Christian world, as it's leaders continued in the mindset of business as usual -- and I do mean business. In the article you write: "After the Resurrection, Christians worshiped Jesus because He was divine." Yet, is has been well documented by the historian that the Jews (Ebionites and Nazirenes) you make reference to, perceived Jesus to be the Messiah of God by virtue of a “supernatural union of a man and God... In their eyes, Jesus of Nazareth was a mere mortal, the legitimate son of Joseph and Mary: but he was the best and wisest of the human race, selected as the worthy instrument to restore upon earth the worship of the true and supreme Deity. When he was baptized in the Jordan, the Christ, the first of the aeons, the Son of God himself, descended on Jesus in the form of a dove, to inhabit his mind, and direct his actions during the allotted period of his ministry” (Gibbon; The Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire, V.4, P.366). And that Jesus became the Anointed (Messiah/Christ), because he fulfilled the Law within himself, as no one had done so completely before him -- i.e., the early Christian writer Irenaeus states that they: “...represented Jesus as having not been born of a virgin, but as being the son of Joseph and Mary according to the ordinary course of human generation, while he nevertheless was more righteous, prudent, and wise than other men. Moreover, after his baptism, Christ descended upon him in the form of a dove from the Supreme Ruler, and that then he proclaimed the unknown Father, and performed miracles” (Irenaeus, Bk 1, Ch 26, doctrines of Cerinthus). Jesus, they asserted, "was justified by fulfilling the Law. He was the Christ of God, since not one of the rest of mankind had observed the Law completely. Had any one else fulfilled the commandments of the Law, he would have been the Christ." Hence, when believers "...thus fulfill the law, they are able to become Christs" (Hippolytus, Refut. Omn. Haer. vii. 34)

A scholar such as yourself should be well aware that the scriptures were altered to support the doctrine of the Trinity which was a universal belief of Pagan Rome (see The Ten Words @ http://TheTenWords.com ). And a seeker of Truth should know that the Bible itself was edited in order to support the doctrines of the Pagan Church of Rome (see http://BibleCorruption.com ). In your article you attempt to examine the Da Vinci Codes in pursuit of truth, fact or fiction. Yet, there is a paradox to the equation that most, who eat the fruit of the Tree of Duality, never even begin to grasp. What will you do when you find out that while you were right -- i.e., that Jesus didn't have a wife in the physical sense -- yet, you are wrong from a much more important sense, which is from the perspective of mind that is presented in the scriptures? In many of the ancient biblical texts and Church writings this following very important statement is made in somewhat varying forms: “Let us expect, therefore, hour by hour, the kingdom of God in love and righteousness, since we know not the day of the appearing of God. For the Lord Himself, being asked by one when His kingdom would come, replied, 'When two shall be one, that which is without as that which is within, and the male with the female, neither male nor female’”.

So while you are right, that Jesus didn't have a wife named Mary Magdalene, when the male and female, are neither male nor female, it is because the Marriage of opposites has been achieved within one's own body, mind/soul and spirit. And while these accounts are not historical, if you fail to possess the reality of their higher meaning within you, then the Kingdom of God can never come in you (see http://GateOfEden.com ). This spiritual understanding of the scriptures is what is called the Key of Knowledge ( http://KeyOfKnowledge.org ) -- which Jesus called the Pharisees blind guides who saw only the written word that Paul called the "letter that killeth", who threw it away in their very carnal interpretations.

Jesus did not start a Church that would have an almost uncountable number of sects and denominations -- and these many divisions are the result of the corruptions of men. The scriptures were not written so that men would read and believe, and find out if they had the correct interpretation when their time in this life has expired. The scriptures were written as a Sacred HandBook -- which, when properly applied and turned within self by the prodigal sons and daughters who are the foster children of this world, presently dwelling in the "outer darkness of the far country", will guide one in TheWay, and open the inner "narrow gate" to the Kingdom within (Lk 17:20-21). That the True Church of Christ is Spiritual -- and can be entered by those who properly apply the Key of Knowledge -- and like the seed sown on "good ground" ( http://SowerAndSeed.com ), free their mind and body from the manmade doctrinal rocks and the thorns of the culture of this world -- endeavor to permit themselves to become the Living Temple of the Most High. And while it can be said that a man such as Jesus who has broken down the inner walls of division, and is At-One with God, is himself Divine, is it also true that as the prodigal sons of our Heavenly Father, there is great wisdom in the words: "Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God'" (John 20:17 NIV).

What few Christians understand is the fact that these and many other such questions can be known -- not by faith in doctrine and Church dogma -- but rather, by applying the Key of Knowledge as it was intended, in a body and mind that has made itself the "good ground" that permits the inner "narrow gate" to open, and the Second Coming to manifest within you. And if you wait until you physically die to search for and find the Absolute Truth of the Gospel, then you will have waited too long -- because the Master of the House will have gotten up and closed the door. But those who "turn about", and make themselves the children of the Kingdom, will know all things -- because they will be taught by God. And being in the world and not of it, they will simultaneously dwell in the Kingdom, even while they are still present in the body-vessel. But this can only be brought about when you make the two, One, within you -- on all levels of your being.

Da Vinci Code' errors: A quick list

Editor's note: The following commentary is adapted from "The Da Vinci Myth Vs. The Gospel Truth" by D. James Kennedy, Ph.D., and Jerry Newcombe.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, but we are not entitled to our own facts. It is OK for a novelist to create a fictional story and even a fictional setting if he wishes. What you can't do with impunity is create a fictional foreground and fictional background, the latter of which you claim is based on fact. That is precisely what Dan Brown has done. His novel, "The Da Vinci Code," claims to be based on facts, but his "facts" are just as much fiction as his fiction.

Upon examination, "The Da Vinci Code" is chock full of errors. Some are unimportant; others, if true, would spell the end of Christianity. Here is a short list of "Da Vinci Code" errors. Error: The book tells readers that "The New Testament is false testimony."

Rebuttal: The New Testament was sealed with the apostles' blood. They put their money where their mouths were. The Greek word for "witness" – as in the idea of witnessing to the truth about Jesus – is "martyro," from whence we get the word martyr. Why? Because so many witnesses to Jesus, e.g., the apostles, were killed for testifying about what they themselves saw. Brown glibly ignores this history and, instead, exalts the questionable writings of second-, third-, and fourth-century Gnostic Christians, who were sexual libertines for the most part. (Other Gnostics were strict legalists.)

Error: The doctrine that Jesus was divine was created by a pagan emperor in the fourth century, Constantine, for the purposes of manipulation: "It was all about power."

Rebuttal: After the Resurrection, Christians worshiped Jesus because He was divine. They called Him "Kurios," the Greek word for "Lord." In the Septuagint – the Greek translation of the Old Testament that Jesus and the apostles had (translated roughly 150 B.C.) – the word used for Yahweh is Kurios. For a Jew to say that a human was Kurios was absolutely forbidden.

Error: No one believed, prior to the Council of Nicea in A.D. 325 that Jesus was divine.

Rebuttal: Again, in the Gospels, written in the first century, we see that Jesus was divine. This is why He was delivered up to be crucified. The Jews accused Him of blasphemy, which is why they arrested Jesus and had a "trial" among themselves: Dan Brown's view that the early Christians believed Jesus was only a mortal rests on historical quicksand. From the very beginning, Christians worshiped Jesus as the Son of God. "Cracking Da Vinci's Code" authors Jim Garlow and Peter Jones have compiled a list of several Church Fathers – all of whom wrote before the Council of Nicea in A.D. 325 – affirming this most basic Christian doctrine that Jesus was divine. Those Fathers include: Ignatius (writing in A.D. 105), Clement (150), Justin Martyr (160), Irenaeus (180), Tertullian (200), Origen (225), Novatian (235), Cyprian (250), Methodius (290), Lactantius (304), and Arnobius (305). Furthermore, one of the earliest Christian creeds was "Jesus is the Lord" (Kurios) (1 Corinthians 12:3).

Error: Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene, and the Gnostic gospels teach that.

Rebuttal: There is the flimsiest of evidence for that. There is one passage in the pseudo Gospel of Philip, written about A.D. 250, long after Philip the apostle had died, that claims Jesus often kissed Mary Magdalene on her ________ (where he kissed her is obscure in the manuscript). The word could have been mouth, cheek, forehead, or whatever. Even liberal scholar Karen King of Harvard University observes that this is referring to a holy kiss that is asexual in nature. Just like it says in the Bible, greet one another with "a holy kiss" (Romans 16:16). Let's also remember that this was written more than 200 years after Christ. So even Dan Brown's sources from antiquity don't make his case for him.

Error: In "The Last Supper," Leonardo da Vinci allegedly painted Mary Magdalene seated next to Jesus.

Rebuttal: One of Dan Brown's proofs is that John looks so feminine, but John is often portrayed in such a way in art because he was young. Go to any cathedral and look at the stained-glass images of John. Just as you can identify Peter because he is holding keys, and you can tell Andrew because he is holding a Cross like an X (the kind on which He was crucified), so you can tell John by his feminine looks. But suppose it were the case that Leonardo intentionally painted Mary Magdalene next to Jesus instead of John, because Jesus and Mary were allegedly married, and Leonardo was in on the secret, then where is the "beloved disciple" John? He is not in the picture. Where is he? Under the table?

Error: The Gnostic gospels uniformly teach the "sacred feminine" – the pagan idea that sex with a woman is the route to a relationship with God.

Rebuttal: Unlike the four Gospels, the Gnostic gospels can be actually degrading to women. The Gospel of Thomas declares that a woman cannot be saved unless God first changes her into a man (the very last verse of Thomas, 114).

Error: The Priory of Sion, which looms large in the novel, was created in 1099 by the Knights Templar.

Rebuttal: The Priory of Sion was created out of whole cloth in 1956 by a French anti-Semite con man, Pierre Plantard. In 1975, documents were found in the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris that allegedly proved the Priory is as old as 1099, and that Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton and other luminaries secretly presided over it. These documents were proved to be fakes.

Error: Christianity was based on pagan religions – such as the mystery religions. Specifically, Dan Brown states: "Nothing in Christianity is original. The pre-Christian God Mithras – called the Son of God and the Light of the World – was born on Dec. 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days."

Rebuttal: Dan Brown has it exactly the opposite. The mystery religions more often borrowed from Christian themes – including the ones that Brown mentions. In ancient cultures, there was always the myth of the dying and resurrecting god – essentially "winter" and "spring." However, these are never alleged to have been real history. In contrast, on such and such a day (some scholars, including Dr. Alan Whanger, retired professor of Duke Medical Center – believe April 7, A.D. 30) Jesus Christ was crucified and laid in a tomb in Jerusalem. He came out alive with a resurrected body in three days (as Jews count it – two days as we would count it).

Going further on the mystery religions, note what authors Carl Olson and Sandra Miesel write in their book, "The Da Vinci Hoax":

Unfortunately for Brown and the authors of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail," there is little or no evidence that most pagan mystery religions, such as the Egyptian cult of Isis and Osiris or the cult of Mithras, existed in the forms described in their books prior to the mid-first century. This is a significant point, for much of the existing evidence indicates that the third- and fourth-century beliefs and practices of certain pagan mystery religions are read back into the first-century beliefs of Christians – without support for such a presumptive act ...

Was there any fact-checking?

There are so many errors among the alleged "accurate depictions" of "The Da Vinci Code" that historian and first-rate scholar Paul Maier just has to shake his head. He notes, "Detailing all the errors, misinterpretations, deceptions, distortions, and outright falsehoods in "The Da Vinci Code" makes one wonder whether Brown's manuscript ever underwent editorial scrutiny or fact-checking."

Amazingly, we live in the Information Age, yet we live in an age of massive disinformation. The Bible says Satan is the "the prince of the power of the air" (Ephesians 2:2). The Bible also says that in the end times, "men will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears" (2 Timothy 4:3). Is that not happening in our own day?

I trust that out of all of this, God, who is able to turn all things to our good, will use it to give opportunities for us to share the true Gospel of the true Savior, who gave His life and shed His blood that we might be forgiven and redeemed and saved by His grace through faith.

In the recently discovered Gospel of Thomas it is written: (12) The disciples said to Jesus, "We know that you will depart from us. Who is to be our leader?" Jesus said to them, "Wherever you are, you are to go to James the righteous, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being." So to once again restore the teachings of TheWay which is today known as Christianity, the Lord has sent Jacob/James, the Brother of Yeshua/Jesus, back into the world in order to guide the faithful flock into the Truth, the Light, and the Kingdom within (Luke 17:20-21). Wherefore He who hath sent us, said, ‘Many shall come to me in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. By their fruits ye shall know them.’"

Again it is warned by Clement: "Wherefore observe the greatest caution, that you believe no teacher, unless he bring from Jerusalem the testimonial of James the Lord’s brother, or of whosoever may come after him. For no one, unless he has gone up thither, and there has been approved as a fit and faithful teacher for preaching the word of Christ, — unless, I say, he brings a testimonial thence, is by any means to be received. As predicted, the ministers of Satan have succeeded in altering the teachings of my brother Yeshua, and continue to lead many into the abyss of darkness. But have no fear my brothers and sisters, for the teachings of TheWay has been restored so that you might be able to overcome the darkness, and enter the Kingdom of Light within you (Luke 17:20-21).
